Music & Mindfulness | Workshop
We are excited to invite you to Ryckman Piano’s first “Music & Mindfulness” workshop. This is a 1-class, $45 workshop that includes the ukulele and assorted rhythm instruments.
What will we do?
Learn about mindfulness and how it is connected to music
Participate in 5 activities that not only include mindfulness aspects, but you’ll also learn about the ukulele and how to play it
Learn 4 different ukulele chords and 2 styles of playing the instrument
Engage your various senses to enhance mindfulness, including touch, hearing and focus
Be provided with various online and print resources so you can continue your musical mindfulness journey after the class

Music Camp | Theory, History and Piano Geography
Ryckman Piano is hosting a $90, 2-class Music Camp on the topics of piano theory, history, and geography. This class is intended for current piano students and/or students who have some past experience with the piano.
What will we do?
Learn a bit about music theory, and why it’s important
Learn some music history, including a brief history of the piano and some major composers
Learn what piano geography is, and how to improve your piano geography skills
Play music games, participate in musical challenges, receive a certificate of completion, and have the chance to win prizes for your homework efforts

A spectacle about self-expression and the celebration of differences through original and historic live music and dance.

Christmas Music | Workshop
Feeling festive? Join Ryckman Piano for a group Christmas Music workshop! This will be a $55, 1-class workshop on the secrets of learning, playing and performing Christmas classics. This class is intended for existing piano students and/or students who have previous experience playing the piano (for a music grade 1-3 level).
What will we do?
Learn some fun facts about Christmas music in a music history context
Learn how to improvise, practice sight-reading, and learn what a lead-sheet is and how to read it
Learn 4 popular Christmas music pieces
Participate in rhythm games, Christmas music games, have the chance to win prizes, and bring home a book of Christmas piano classics so you can keep learning at home

Summer Break Recital
Ryckman Piano invites you to the last recital event before summer break on Saturday, June 7th, at 10:30am!

Please consider bringing a small donation for the church, for letting us use their space.
Who can I invite?
Feel free to invite all of your friends and family for an hour of musical fun! At the end there will be coffee, tea, juice, and treats for everyone to enjoy, provided by Ryckman Piano.

Focus on Youth
The CVMTA is excited to share that our 2025 Focus on Youth event will be held at the Kootenay River Secondary School auditorium, and are proud to boast an excellent week of performances starting Monday, May 5th and running to Friday, May 9th. There will be piano, violin, vocal, dance, drama performances, and more!
Registration is free, and there will be additional registration details for private and school teachers in early 2025 on the CVMTA’s Programs page, so please keep an eye out for the announcement!

Stars of the Festival
Ryckman Piano and the CVMTA’s students’ Festival of the Arts award winners will be putting on a spectacular concert on Sunday, March 9th, 2025 at the Kootenay River Secondary School auditorium.
Entrance is by donation; you will get to listen to an excellent collection of performances and watch as the students are presented their awards.

Festival of the Arts
The CVMTA is proud to announce that our annual Creston Festival of the Arts adjudicated festival will be running from March 5th to March 7th, 2025.
More details about registration, and dates/times for the adjudicated performances will be announced in early 2025 on the CVMTA’s Programs page. Please keep an eye out for the announcement!

Music Camps
Ryckman Piano will be running two music camps, on Fridays, starting February 21st, and running until March 14th.
What are the details?
These will be 4-week introduction to music/instrument programs. One class for piano, and one for the ukulele.
Classes are 60-minutes in length, and open to all ages
Classes are currently $35/class, plus the cost of books/supplies (about $140-175 for the whole program)
There will be a maximum group size of 5 students for the piano camp, and a maximum group size of 6 students for the ukulele camp

Cookie Concert
Ryckman Piano, in partnership with the CVMTA, is excited to announce that our annual Valentines’ Day themed Cookie Concert will be on Sunday, February 16th, 2025 with a 2:00pm start!
Please stick around after the recital for some sweet cookies and treats provided by the CVMTA members and their students!

Ukulele Winters Program (Ages 4-9)
This introduction to music program for kids, nicknamed "Ukulele Winters" is a 5-week intro to music program focusing on rhythm, music theory, and ukulele. Kids will also enjoy singing, dancing, and music games, with chances to earn prizes and perform at a concert in February!

Canada Music Week Recital
Please join Ryckman Piano, the CVMTA, and our students for our annual Canada Music Week Recital!
This year’s recital will be hosted at the Erickson Covenant Church, at 6017, Canyon-Lister Rd on Saturday, November 16th, with a 2:00pm start. At this recital, the CVMTA will also be presenting Royal Conservatory of Music examination awards.
Please stay a while after the recital for some cookies, treats, juice, and visiting!
